F‑Secure Internet Security recognized for detecting fraudulent online stores for the third consecutive year, with zero false alarms in independent testing
HELSINKI (November 6, 2026) — F‑Secure Internet Security has earned AV‑Comparatives’ Fake‑Shops Detection Certification for the third consecutive year. The independent certification recognizes F‑Secure’s ability to identify fraudulent online stores while avoiding false alarms on legitimate shopping websites, helping protect consumers from financial scams and data theft.
In tests conducted October 1–7, 2026, AV‑Comparatives evaluated F‑Secure Internet Security against 500 active fake‑shop websites and 100 legitimate online stores. To receive certification, products must detect at least 80% of fraudulent shops without incorrectly flagging any legitimate sites. F‑Secure Internet Security successfully met both requirements.
Fake online shops often imitate legitimate retailers, using copied branding, convincing website designs, and attractive offers to trick consumers into making purchases or sharing sensitive information. As scammers increasingly use AI to make fraudulent storefronts appear authentic, distinguishing real shops from fake ones is becoming more challenging.
Human expertise behind fake‑shop detection
"Shopping scams cost people real money and trust, and AI is making fake shops harder to tell apart from legitimate ones," said Sarogini Muniyandi, Head of Scam Research & Defence Lab at F‑Secure. "Earning this certification for a third consecutive year is credit to our analysts and researchers, who investigate fraudulent websites around the clock, identify the patterns behind them, and turn those findings into insights for detection rules. Our approach is human‑led and AI‑powered, helping us protect both our customers and the people served by our digital service provider partners.”
F‑Secure Internet Security analyzes website characteristics and URLs to identify suspicious patterns associated with fraudulent retailers. When a potential fake shop is detected, the website is blocked and the user receives a clear warning, helping prevent risky purchases.
This technology also supports F‑Secure's broader scam protection capabilities, available to consumers directly and through its digital service provider partners.
